Meet Recruitment Consultant Cathal, our hardworking and passionate Irishman! Cathal has been with us for 8 months, has already been promoted and is well on his way to another promotion! A shining example of the hard work and tenacity that earns well deserved recognition.

Hi Cathal! Can you tell us a bit about your background?

I grew up in small but vibrant city in Ireland called Newry where I studied Business at Southern Regional College. Throughout my studies, as well as enjoying student life, I had part-time position working for a highly-established Butchery within the City of Newry.  After a couple of years working part-time, I was promoted to management and held a position at a brand new store which was part of £2 million investment to the city.

So, how did you become interested in recruitment?

As simple as it sounds, I was ready for change. I was ready to challenge myself again and it wasn’t long before my first challenge appeared in deciding what industry I wanted to get involved with.  I have always held a passion working with people and for sure wanted to find an industry that could provide a platform where communication was key.  Recruitment seemed to be the final result of many searches, it was an industry offering a challenging, exciting, fast paced environment.

How did you end up at Net Talent?

Besides being ready for a career change, I was also itching to fly the nest and experience a brand new city.  I have had many city breaks to Edinburgh with plenty of memories, it was certain I was bound to return one day.  I researched countless recruitment companies as it proves to be a very competitive market in Scotland.  Straight away Net Talent stood out far among the rest, the company’s success story is fascinating, having formed key client partnerships with some of the biggest names in IT, also being able to prove that if you put the hard work in you will be greatly rewarded.  I was invited to our Edinburgh office where I got to meet the team, management, the Director and CEO. Instantly I knew this was the platform I was searching for where I would be guaranteed career and personal growth from day one with the upmost support.

What does your role entail?

I’m responsible for building and growing my own desk, working within a specific market which is the Embedded Software Community across Scotland.  My role entails introducing exceptional talent to our credible partnerships formed throughout the years, providing a professional consultancy for individuals ready for their next chapter in their career.  I also focus on establishing partnerships with IT companies across Scotland, this involves being able to represent Net Talent and our services that we can provide.

What’s your favourite thing about Net Talent?

The people! From day one I have been welcomed with open arms, having relocated to new a city, the team have been unbelievable, making sure I am getting the most out of my time at Net Talent and out of living in Edinburgh.

You are responsible for your success at Net Talent which drives self-achievement, which is instantly recognised and greatly rewarded in many ways.  There are not many jobs that leave you feeling fulfilled after a day’s work, but you are guaranteed this feeling at Net Talent.  In addition, successful weeks result in our ‘Friday Fridge’ which is most definitely another favourite.

What has been your proudest achievement to date?

I have just received my first promotion with Net Talent! I joined the company 8 months ago and so far Net Talent has shown what’s achievable when you work hard.  Everything is up for grabs – the platform I have been offered is outstanding.

As I've mentioned before, I love working with people, I am in a position where I play a part in assisting someone find their next career.  You are essentially the gate-keeper to opportunities, in a position where you are able to approach talented individuals, supporting them throughout the interview process and at the end being able to congratulate someone with their gained success, most of the time with a well-deserved pint.  This is an achievement that sticks with you throughout your time at Net Talent.

Thanks Cathal!
