Posted 4/9/2019 by Jane Gibb

Meet Indira, our newest recruit and psychology graduate from Barcelona! Full of positivity and with a fantastic work ethic, Indira has slotted into the team nicely and brings infectious energy to the Net Talent office.

Hi Indira! Thanks for taking the time to chat. First of all, can you tell us a bit about your background?

I come from summery Barcelona, a city I cherish and love. After completing my Psychology degree, I engaged with academical research within related fields for a while. Working hand in hand with brilliant minds, and publishing an electrifying peer-reviewed paper in Clinical Psychology – a very exciting time. But the world is so big… and I decided this was not cutting it for me. So I adventured to find a more interesting path!

I moved to Edinburgh and got immediately captivated by its unique charm. I quickly found a job at the HQ of a global services corporation through a recruitment firm and got quickly promoted to their recently established Social Media team. I am enjoying this beautiful and energetic city, as well as its people to the fullest!

So, how did you become interested in recruitment?

After getting my first Edinburgh-based job through a recruitment agency I was surprised by how human and earnest they were with me. Having studied Psychology, and armed with my experience in communications and engagement, I felt that I was ready to investigate further and craft my career in this sector. I found it to be an amazing new world to explore and I began to sort through the potential companies of the city in which I could apply.

How did you end up at Net Talent?

I can say that Net Talent caught my eye with their values and attitude towards the highly competitive and fast paced environment of recruitment. I found that Net Talent wants to take the time to see beyond any given CV and into the candidate’s true potential. That any relationship is considered important, and that partnerships are vital to success. So I applied right away, after meeting Darren and attending an amazing interactive recruitment evening I was invited to meet the rest of the team, and got to meet the Yvonne the CEO. It was a great experience, and I was hooked up from the start. Since then the company has been an amazing source of training and encouragement.

What does your role entail?

Taking on the role of Recruitment Executive is the chance to create and navigate a net of candidates and positions in the technology sector. From it I am in a position from which to work with our partner clients to know what they need from a candidate. Then, I carefully select the best person for any given position and guide them through the interviewing process to reach their goals.

What is your favourite thing about Net Talent?

The team! It is an encouraging and supportive office, with Two-Pizza sized teams where everyone is given huge amounts of responsibility, and accountability is taken seriously. Plus, I find the technology sector to be fascinating. I have been on the role for 3 months and I absolutely love it! Getting my career in recruitment started with Net Talent had me realise that this is my true vocation.

What has been your proudest achievement to date?

The trust my candidates put in me. I love to meet the people I’m helping. I like to put a face to a CV. They all have a story to tell, and I love stories. We chat over a coffee and discuss the role, their experience, their goals… then we decide together on their next big step. I have never felt more secure doing anything than when I am with them.

We live in a highly technological world. And I am creating an amazing network of great candidates. Which means that I am connecting with hundreds of people that when placed in the right position, may have the potential to change the way we interact with technology – the way we interact with the world. I believe my role makes a difference, and I am getting to know the ins and outs of the ground-breaking technology landscape of Scotland, learning more and more every single day.

Amazing, thanks Indira!
