This is a new BI Developer role with a well-known FMCG company based outside Perthshire - easy commute from both Edinburgh, Glasgow and West Lothian
The purpose of the role is to develop, support and administer the company business applications and reporting systems in line with the business needs, utilising appropriate technical solutions.
Create and manage BI and analytics solutions that turn data into actionable business knowledge.
Key tasks;
- Translate business needs to technical BI specifications
- Design, build and deploy BI solutions to meet business requirements
- Maintain and support data analytics platforms
- Create tools to store data (e.g. OLAP cubes)
- Conduct unit testing and troubleshooting
- Evaluate and improve existing BI systems
- Collaborate with teams to integrate systems
- Develop and execute database queries and conduct analyses
- Create visualizations and reports for requested projects
- Develop and update technical documentation
- Work with the Change Authority Board to ensure the audited and controlled deployment of changes to systems
- Deliver training related to new developments as required
- Supporting Go Live and handover to Help desk
We are looking for a min of 2 years’ experience in IT working in a solutions development capacity and have a proven track record in leading and supporting teams. Proven experience as a BI Developer and have the ability to take initiative to be innovative
Knowledge;
- Background in data warehouse design (dimensional modelling) and data mining
- Familiarity with BI technologies, ideally QlikView
- Knowledge of SQL queries, SQL Server Reporting services, (SSRS) and SQL Server Integration services (SSIS)
- Knowledge of ERP systems, preferably Infor Syteline
- Logical and technical thinker
