Insights Analyst
Edinburgh
Competitive Salary + Benefits

One of the UK’s leading providers of innovative office software is looking to bring into the business a skilled, ambitious, and business-minded Insights Analyst at a time of significant operational and cultural change.

Driven by their new CTO, this organisation are looking to transform the relationship between their core IT team and the wider business. They are looking for ambitious data professionals who are willing to play a role in coaching, mentoring, and advancing understanding of their ERP system, database management, and reporting services.

In the long-term, the goal is to create a business in which users across all departments can take ownership for internal systems: a ‘self-service’ approach that removes the risk of single points of knowledge.

The incoming Insights Analyst will ideally have 3-4 years working in a data or IT role, with a solid grasp of T-SQL, stored procedures, and hands on experience with ETL processes.

You will not be expected to be an elite MS SQL developer; rather, you will have a skill-set that cuts across technology, and the ‘softer’ skills of people engagement, change management, and mentoring/coaching.

As you build up a picture of the business, its people, and its needs, whilst enhancing your BI skillset, you will be expected to drive the adoption of a self-service culture, playing an ever great role in this long-term strategy.

A more tangible focus of the role will be to support the delivery of a new ERP system, currently based on AX 2009. The business will be taking up much more modern MS Dynamics software.

Essential:

  • T-SQL
  • ETL
  • Reporting (SSRS, PowerBI)
  • Excel

Nice but not essential:

  • Exposure to AX or D365
  • Experience working in a SharePoint environment
  • Previous experience coaching or mentoring users on reporting or data services
