Brand new opportunity to join this fast growing Fintech as their new Head of Engineering. Following the appointment of their new CTO and further growth predicted the business needs an experienced Head of Engineering to support the CTO and 4 Engineering Managers to deliver on the technical roadmap.

With this pace of growth also comes chaotic moments so we are looking for a capable and enthusiastic Technology leader to support the growth of the business and the Engineering team within it. 

The platform is new, it's ever evolving and engineering is one of the principal components of the business, so we are looking for a hands on Head of Engineering who can get hands on with technical decisions and work with the technical team to develop the platform architecture. The other half of your role will be to support, manage, coach and develop your team to create a collaborative, open and experienced team of Engineers.

You will be directly responsible for a tea of 4 however the wider team is circa 30 Engineers - with plans to add another 20 over the next 12 months so you should have previous experience managing teams of this size.

What else is important:

  • Experience working with cloud-based platforms/products
  • Experience in a B2B software environment (preferably financial services), and not only understands the needs and demands of clients face but also how the facets of the business works 
  • Experience ensuring the SDLC appropriately caters for all aspects of development (including QA, security, deployment, scalability)
  • Success from coaching and supporting other staff members on technical and non-technical aspects, and getting the best out of people
  • Has previously shaped and developed platform architecture and wants to take an active role in this alongside the leadership team
  • A broad knowledge of serverless architectures within Amazon Web Services and document database technologies.  We are heavy users of API gateway, Lambda, S3, SQS, SNS and MongoDB
  • Has experience of managing and integrating technologies across a range of providers and a variety of different API protocols
  • Thinks of agile but with an open view on what this looks like - you care about alignment and speed, but also about people enjoying their work.
  • Strong experience of DevOps and CI/CD approaches to support our platform's growth
