Role: IT Systems Administrator 

Location: Glasgow (Hybrid WFH/Office approach)

Salary: up to £40,000

 

The Role:

The IT Systems Administrator will provide operational support for all IT and Telecommunication systems within the company, including IT security, company servers, virtual servers, storage, networking, WiFi, cloud solutions, and backup solutions.

The technical environment is very diverse, so you must be experienced in 3rd line support, as well as a good working knowledge of common systems both internally hosted and cloud based. In addition to 'off the shelf’ products, some of our clients systems have been developed in house, therefore you must be keen to expand your technical; horizons and learn new technologies quickly to meet the challenges of a technically diverse environment. 

The IT Systems Admin will provide 3rd line support to all internal customers. 

The IT Systems Admin is mainly responsible for the smooth running of computer systems and ensuing users get maximum benefits from them.

 

Key responsibilities:

  • To administer the smooth operation of all IT Systems.
  • To assist installing, supporting, and maintaining the IT Infrastructure including all IT security, backups, emails, servers, virtual environments, IT storage, desktops, security, network, hardware, cloud products and telecoms systems.
  • Support front line support task for users; reset password, etc., and other daily support task that occur in the IT department.
  • Supporting the IT team with helpdesk escalations
  • Working with the Senior System Administrator and IT Systems Manager to ensure all IT systems are correctly licensed.
  • Help create detailed process and procedure documentation.
  • Analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve system hardware, software, and networking issues
  • Configure, optimize, fine-tune, monitor OS software and servers
  • Perform system backups and recovery
  • Configure and deploy servers
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Out of Hours support on a rota basis with the other IT Systems approved staff to agreed SLAs
  • Ensure all systems are kept up-to-date, fully patched and on the latest possible versions.
  • Uses technology to develop a proactive approach to service provision.
  • Follows the IT strategies, policies and procedures.
  • Keep abreast of developments within the IT industry.

  • VMware ESX-i and VSphere 
  • MS Windows Server
  • MS Server/Linux Operating Systems
  • Active Directory and Group Policty
  • Azure / Azure AD
  • Office365
  • Exchange / SharePoint
  • Firewalls / Proxy’s
  • enterprise SAN Products. (HP)
  • Aruba network switches
  • Veeam Backup & Recovery
  • Excellent verbal and written communication. Ability to communicate effectively with staff
  • Ability to work independently, demonstrate problem solving skills and ability to understand when it is necessary to escalate to a senior colleague.
