Senior Full-stack Software Engineer


Glasgow/Remote – Hybrid Model


About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join a fast-growing SME that specialises in creating algorithms and machine leaning models that analyse, fuse and exploit data from many different types of sensors. The role involves a variety of technical tasks and responsibilities, collaboration with colleagues in the software team, and direct reporting to the Head of Engineering.


Essential Requirements:

  • 5+ years’ experience developing full stack solutions using server and/or serverless architectures on AWS, specialising in back-end development.
  • A first degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Strong understanding of how to architect, design, and implement cloud-based solutions.
  • The ability to understand user needs, perform requirements analysis and to produce concise requirements specifications.
  •  The ability to architect a solution to meet a complex set of requirements, and to articulate this in a comprehensive design document.
  •  Successful AWS web system design, development, deployment and support.
  •  Full-stack development (front-end, back-end and web-browser).
  •  Experience of API and UI services.
  •  Agile development with full testing, verification and validation.
  •  Professional, high-quality documentation.
  • Tech stack: Python, Docker, AWS, DynamoDB/NoSQL, HTML/CSS, JavaScript/TypeScript, Configuration control using Git.


A number of additional technical skills are highly desirable:

  • Experience of developing systems which support large-scale geospatial imagery.
  • Algorithm experience for image processing and machine learning.
  • Angular.
  • Relational database/SQL.
  • Geospatial data manipulation using GDAL.
  • MVC web architecture development and testing, e.g. using Ruby on Rails.
