IT Infrastructure Engineer, Glasgow, UK (3/4 days onsite)

We are looking for an experienced and dedicated Infrastructure Engineer who can be flexible and is a problem solver who can turn their hand to new technology.

Day-to-day Responsibilities

  • Work with clients to administer, implement, troubleshoot, and analyse IT Infrastructure, including on-premise and cloud based technologies, identifying improvements on an ongoing basis.
  • Responsible for the implementation testing and roll-out of any projects along with other members of the team.
  • Provides 3rd line support as required on operation issues and projects.
  • Prioritisation of workloads and conflicting demand.
  • Liaise with business stakeholders when required and provide regular feedback when working on a project
  • Ensuring our customers are kept in the loop and that these issues are dealt with in a timely fashion. 
  • Proactively spot risks to and flag opportunities which will ultimately protect our customers businesses to add value in the process.   
  • Liaise with clients third parties and represent them in order to resolve their issues. 
  • Support your team by way of knowledge transfer to ensure we are constantly upskilling and provide a broad range of knowledge across the business. 

 

Desired Skills

  • A proven track record of IT infrastructure engineering experience 
  • Desktop operating system experience; Windows 10/11 & macOS (desirable)  
  • Windows Server technology including AD, DNS/DHCP/GPO 
  • Exchange Server and Exchange Online general support 
  • Virtualisation technologies such as VMware and Microsoft Hyper-V and associated networking/storage 
  • Cloud Infrastructure/Platforms such as Azure and Office 365 
  • Troubleshooting and understanding of networking LAN/WAN technologies including Cisco Meraki, Draytek (Fortinet would be an advantage) 
  • Backup/Replication Technologies such as Veeam 
  • Ability to renew and managing server certificates 
  • Basic PowerShell and scripting ability 
  • Security tooling experience such as Sophos, Bit Defender or Microsoft Defender (Sentinel One would be an advantage) 
  • Familiarity with IT service management software and remote monitoring and management (RMM) tools 
  • Ability to work across a range of clients with different infrastructure and documentation 
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently and meet deadlines, while maintaining focus despite conflicting demands 
  • Experience of updating technical documentation and ensuring internal processes are accurate following changes
