Net Talent Partners is currently supporting a dynamic organisation in Edinburgh that is keen to onboard a talented *Data Engineer* to join their innovative team. You will be instrumental in designing and maintaining robust data pipelines, leveraging modern tools and cloud platforms to support analytics, data science, and operational needs. Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain large-scale batch and streaming data pipelines supporting enterprise-wide data initiatives.
  • Define and implement standards for data modelling, architecture, and pipeline orchestration using modern cloud-native tools.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including data science, analytics, and engineering, to translate business requirements into technical data solutions.
  • Establish and uphold engineering best practices around code quality, testing, deployment, and documentation.
  • Contribute to maintaining a resilient, modular, and interoperable data platform, identifying and resolving architectural bottlenecks.
  • Lead technical reviews, mentor colleagues, and drive strategic initiatives aimed at enhancing data quality, observability, and system reliability.
  • Act as a technical liaison, ensuring alignment on data strategy and standards across various teams.

Candidate Profile:

  • At least 8 years of experience in data engineering or related fields, with a focus on scalable data systems and platforms.
  • Proficiency in Spark, ETL/ELT processes, SQL, and cloud-native services (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
  • Hands-on experience with data frameworks such as Databricks, Airflow, Kafka, and modern data modelling techniques.
  • Strong programming skills in Python, Java, or Scala, with a solid understanding of distributed systems and streaming architectures.
  • Proven ability to own complex technical systems end-to-end, from design through to production deployment.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of translating technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience supporting analytics, machine learning, or operational workloads is preferred.
