DevOps Engineer Consultant

Permanent

Edinburgh

Highly competitive salary

Positions across Consultant, Senior, & Lead level

SUMMARY

This role is a wonderful opportunity to work with a young consultancy who have a rapidly expanding reputation across the country. Recently rated by a couple of the business world’s most respected market experts as one of the UK’s best consultancies, this company functions almost as a start-up consultancy.

You will get all the benefits of working in a start-up: a growth-oriented environment that prizes technology above all else, provides lots of autonomy, offers limitless progression; & works with the most modern technology. At the same time the consultancy nature will mean avoiding the key issues of a start-up: limiting finances, instability, few people to learn from, & lack of scope due to small or really specific projects/ products.

This consultancy despite their young age works across numerous different sectors (eg, finance, retail, manufacturing, utilities, power) and is deeply engaged in two of Edinburgh’s biggest infrastructure projects.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

  • The successful candidate will be a people person, able to communicate complicated technical issues to someone with less knowhow than them, brave enough to have an opinion, and diplomatic in handling issues. This will be a client-facing role.
  • Passionate technologist who has a true engineering spirit, someone who loves providing solutions.
  • Far more concerned with “culture add” than “culture fit” – what can you add? Not about talented people trying to fit in, more about talented people standing out.

The company do not think candidates can be reduced down into a shopping list of tech but below are some of the technology they engage most with, you do not need to have all to be a very good candidate:

  • Node/ Python/ Bash/ Golang
  • Ansible in particular (Terraform also)
  • AWS (or any public cloud, eg, Azure/GCP)
  • Linux O/S (some Windows)
  • Containerisation (Docker/ Kubernetes)
  • Jenkins/ GIT
  • MySQL/ MongoDB
  • Prometheus/ Zabbix
  • Data engineering/ data lakes/ Hadoop

Lastly, all this would be in a stunning office where salary on offer & internal training/ accreditations are market leading.
