Head of Infrastructure - Scotland or Manchester / Hybrid

Overview:

Opportunity for a Head of IT Infrastructure to join our Core IT Team. This is a great opportunity to develop your professional career within our rapidly expanding global business.

The role requires an experienced, hands-on IT Infrastructure leader managing a team of infrastructure and security engineering resources responsible for designing, building, deploying, maintaining, securing, and supporting IT infrastructure across end user compute, data centre, server and network estates. 

What are we looking for ?

This role will require a strong operational focus and leadership skills, and a deep commitment to end-user satisfaction and experience in driving IT infrastructure improvement. In parellel the right person will have several years leading an IT Infrastructure team, with exposure to the Microsoft stack including O365/M365 in an environment of similar size and complexity.

 In terms of specific technologies, experience in the following would be beneficial:

  • Experience with Windows Server 2003 – 2019
  • Storage (SAN/NAS) – NetApp, IBM Storwize, QNAP
  • Virtualisation – VMWare vSphere 5.5 – 7.0
  • Microsoft Azure – IaaS, PaaS
  • Identity – Active Directory; AzureAD
  • Microsoft Exchange 2013 – 2019
  • Windows 7 / Windows 10
  • LAN/WAN – Cisco Networking
  • Endpoint Management – MS Endpoint Manager (Intune)

This is a very exciting opportunity and entails the following; 

  • This role will be leading the Core IT Infrastructure team providing development and advice, ensuring it operates effectively in a changing/developing Core IT infrastructure landscape
  • Ensure IT is capable of meeting business needs via secure, stable, highly available IT infrastructure; delivered through effective BAU fix/fulfilment, execution of continuous improvement plans and project resourcing
  • Leveraging industry best practices, frameworks, and product expertise / knowledge to continuously improve the operation and functionality of  Core IT infrastructure portfolio
  • Establishing Core IT infrastructure performance through metrics, stakeholder engagement and transactional feedback; developing action plans to address areas needing improvement
  • Ensuring Core IT infrastructure remains within operational standards and governance regarding currency, security, licencing and budget
  • Maintaining knowledge of IT infrastructure technology, including the Microsoft stack, and industry trends
  • Participate in both IT infrastructure and IT security council meetings
