ROLE OUTLINE

This position with a fantastic client who specialise in a range of software solutions including business analytics, customer analytics, & cybersecurity is a great opportunity for any presales engineers. The successful candidate would lead a team of engineers who build trial software and system prototypes in order to show them off to clients and prospective clients. The demo engineers collaborate with Solutions Consultants on configuration and extension, tailoring demonstrations to particular sales opportunities. The hiring company is a software product house, not a consultancy, but this is a great opportunity for someone who would like to experience the best of both worlds with some very varied engineering work that will have an added consultancy/ sales dimension to it. This position would not require the engineer to actually demonstrate the system/ software to the client as this is the consultant’s job, only build it.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Code development for the core demo platform for the assigned product
  • Development, testing and documentation of custom software extensions to the demo system, tailored to the specific needs of the prospective client.
  • Set up dedicated copies of standard demo VM's for particular sales opportunities
  • Investigate and progress Demo System Support tickets to resolution

 

REQUIREMENTS

Experience/ skills in at least 2 of the following:

  • Linux command line
  • Windows server operating systems - Active Directory and Windows Security
  • HTTP servers such as Apache and IIS
  • Network communication and security—network structure (LAN, WAN), protocols (TCP/IP, FTP, SMTP etc.) and communication equipment functionality (hubs, switches, routers)
  • Remote connection applications and techniques, eg, Citrix, VMware, RDP, VNC, VPN
  • Source control tools, eg, SVN, CVS or GIT
  • Some familiarity with languages for web development, eg, HTML, JavaScript, AJAX, CSS, or Java
