Opportunity
This hands-on test management role would see you working within an agile product development team testing systems, software applications & platforms. This person should be a natural & caring leader with some line/ team management experience within a software testing environment. Ideally the Test Manager will not be totally hands-on and will like to keep themselves as close to the tools & technologies as possible whilst keeping an eye on emerging technologies & ideas.
This role will have technical responsibilities to go along with line management, test strategy, & team leadership. Great option for someone who enjoys a technical management role. Can consider candidates without official ‘manager’ title if they have had the appropriate responsibilities
This is very much with a tech for good company who are working to the end of enabling green energy & improving energy efficiency – with the dual benefit of looking after both the planet & the public’s wallet.
Experience
- Must have some form of test management or leadership experience (does not need to be management over a large team, smaller teams are fine too)
- Must be a former tester - coming from a hands-on software testing background.
- Ability to lead with compassion & determination
- Ideally a testing background where you have been performing or leading both manual & automation testing
- Active participation in Agile methods – stand-ups, reviews & retrospectives – and across the SDLC generally
- History of driving forward a product or project team
- Constant learner & awareness of modern or emerging testing processes
- Analytical mind to recognise if processes/ ways of work
- Testing from pre-production environments
Technology
You do not need to be an expert in all of this technology but experience across a selection would be very beneficial:
- Java, C# or Python backend (Java ideal)
- JavaScript frontend (any modern framework)
- JIRA or Defect Management Tools
- Windows & Linux platforms
- Basic infrastructure or networking concepts/ familiarity (VMs, VPNs, remote desktop)
- Public cloud (AWS/ Azure)
